"Freebo is more than one of LA's best players, he's also a richly gifted and distinctive songwriter, as expressive in his writing as on a bass" (Paul Zollo, Songwriters on Songwriting)

"Freebo's intimate and go-down-easy personable vocals tie in light-hearted fare, social commentary and spiritual quest with love-sweet-love, and make it sound seamless." (Janet Goodman, Music News Nashville)

"Standing Ovation is an astounding song which encompasses a profound view of life, destined to become a classic." (Russ Paris, Folkworks.org)

"Listening to Freebo is like riding on a cumulus cloud of peaceful awareness, a cosmic blend of folk/country/rock/soul ear-pleasing genre-defying music." (Walt Falconer, Cool Album of The Day)

  • David Garfield - Piano
  • Joe Porcaro -    Drums

  • Ira Nepus - Trombone

David Garfield has had the same mission statement since moving from his hometown of St. Louis to Los Angeles as a teenager in the early 70s: “I make music.” Fully living up to this vision and in more expansive ways over the past few decades, the multi-talented keyboardist and musical Renaissance Man has established himself an eclectic force in popular music. At any given point during his career—and often at the same time—he has been a renowned songwriter, producer, bandleader (of Los Angeles based contemporary world jazz collective Karizma), arranger, recording artist, record label owner (Creatchy Records), session and touring musician, musical director and composer of various commissioned themes for global organizations.

Reflecting on his extraordinary, diverse career, the Los Angeles based Garfield says, “It’s creatively invigorating to have the opportunity to do so many interesting musical projects, to see so many amazing places throughout the world, and to work with some of the greatest musicians both in L.A. and overseas. I feel as though I am always learning from the artists and musicians I work with, not simply on a musical level, but also benefiting from their wealth of stories and life and career experiences. There are always unexpected thrills along the way, from opening with his band for Sergio Mendez or Jason Mraz to recording in a studio next to Paul McCartney or Alice in Chains and having the opportunity to meet and get to know them. I love being involved in so many different aspects of music and the feeling that I truly never know what’s coming up next.

Singer/songwriter, producer Steve Postell has brought his all-star band, “Night Train Music Club” to Bogies for many memorable nights.... It's been a few months, as Steve has been recording, producing and traveling. Recently Steve has been involved in a very exciting new project, THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY, and he is thrilled to be able to join the band for their debut performance at Bogies on April 22.

The Immediate Family began life as a studio project, recording Danny Kortchmar’s upcoming solo CD. The CD, which will be released this spring, features guest performances by James Taylor, Jackson Browne, David Crosby & Michael McDonald. But the core band decided to keep the vibe going and take the project on the road. In addition to Steve on guitar and vocals, the band includes four of the world’s most iconic and recorded musicians. On guitar and vocals, Danny Kortchmar, who has played, produced and written for James Taylor, Don Henley, Carole King, Jackson Browne and many more. The Immediate Family will be performing many of his hit songs including Jackson’s “Somebody’s Baby”, and Henley’s “Dirty Laundry”. Also on guitar and vocals is Waddy Wachtel, who has played with many of the same artists and co-wrote hits with Warren Zevon such as “Lawyers, Guns & Money”, and “Werewolves in London”. Rounding up the band is one of the most recorded and revered rhythm sections in the world; Leland Sklar on bass and Russ Kunkel on drums. Together they have played on close to 5,000 records, many of them classics in the rock n roll pantheon.

The Immediate Family is pleased to be able to bring their brand of organic rock and hit songs to Bogies for their first live gig before they head out to tour Japan.

ROSEMARY BUTLER

Rosemary Butler & her band are back at Bogies for a great night of original music off her album, “You Just Watch Me,” and some choice covers, including many of the tunes she sang on. Rosemary Butler, the heroine of classic harmonies & rockin’ melodies, can hardly be compared to any other artist. See below for more info.

Rose's band:

  • George Friedenthal - keys
  • Eddie Tuduri - drums
  • Maitland Ward - guitar
  • Rob Bonfiglio - guitar
  • Randy Tico - bass
  • Lauri Reimer - bgs/percussion

Rosemary gained popularity in the late 1970s & early '80s as a back-up singer appearing alongside talented artists including Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Carole King, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles and many other A-list superstars. Rosemary was the contractor & co-conductor of the 100 Voice Choir that was featured on Neil Young's ‘Living With War’ album & movie. The Superbowl, President Clinton’s Inauguration and The Grammy’s have all been graced with her unparalleled vocals. She won a “Telly” award for a compilation video of her performances with these artists created as an introspective look at her fascinating career.

Blessed with a 4-octave mezzo-soprano range, her vocal expertise is a technical marvel. She began her career playing the bass and singing in an all-girl Orange County based band called the “Ladybirds”. The band appeared on several L.A. area television shows & even opened for The Rolling Stones! She formed the all-female hard rock band “Birtha” that released two albums for ABC-Dunhill Records. Rosemary’s latest solo album, ‘YOU JUST WATCH ME’ was released in 2013, with the help of her friends, Kenny Loggins and Jackson Browne, which was met with great critical acclaim.

Join The Delgado Brothers for a great night of Latin Blues and Soul. It's also keyboardist David “B” Kelley’s birthday. The Brothers will be performing songs off their upcoming album, “Two Trains” on Bell Asher Records and more.

The DELGADO BROTHERS - Driven by fierce independence, unified by family, and fortified by the brotherhood of music, the Delgado Brothers deliver the musical goods; topical anthem-worthy songs complemented by call-to-action lyrics, and East L.A. Soul. For over 30 years the Delgado Brothers have been music makers, collaborators and ordinary citizens; raising children, grieving the loss of parents, marrying & divorcing. All of these life experiences explain their flare for illuminating everyman's joys, sorrows, triumphs and losses. The Brothers' music has long been embraced both locally and globally by a wide spectrum of people undivided by culture, age or socioeconomic status.

The Delgado Brothers have longtime been referred to as Los Angeles’ best kept secret. So just who are these quintessential musicians? The Delgado Brothers are eldest brother Bob Delgado on bass, middle brother Joey D on guitar and vocals, younger brother Steve on drums and vocals, and David “B” Kelley on Hammond B3. Each member of the band brings a unique style of musicianship to the Delgado Brothers brand. Indiana- bred David B. Kelley came West in search of “groove and diversity”. An incredibly gifted musician, David’s playing on his “Vintage 1972 Hammond B3” adds tone, texture and depth to the sound and songs.

To witness a Delgado Brothers’ live performance is to testify to the synergy, emotion, work ethic and true musicianship of the band. Their 4th CD, Learn to Fly, released in 2009 is testament to the band’s long evolution and scope of musical diversity. Raising a variety of real world concerns from the topical, ‘I Wanna Know (what the fighting's about)’, to the meaningful
and brilliantly nuanced, ‘Man Without Plan’. Featured players on Learn to Fly include: Lee Thornburg, who led and arranged the all-star horn section of Paulie Cerra & Arturo Velasco. Critically acclaimed Latin jazz players, The Banda Brothers with Ramon on timbales and drums and brother Tony on bass. Slide guitar great David “Hound-Dog” Melton, blues singing sensation Sherry Pruitt, and the legendary Chambers Brothers of classic hit songs ‘Time’ and ‘People Get Ready’ fame, who sang on “If The World”.

Tug on the Delgado Brothers musical roots and you’ll find big brother Bob’s bass-playing days tied into the East Los Angeles band, Thee Exotics circa 1960’s. Yet another brother, Eddie played with Thee Ambertones during the same period. Creating a perfect musical environment, for younger brothers Steve and Joey only to aspire to. For years the Delgado Brothers band played venues, clubs and special events throughout Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley. In 1987 after being sighted at the in-famous “L.A. Street Scene”, they released their first album on the Hightone Records, with Dennis Walker and Bruce Bromberg, the same producers responsible for Robert Cray’s hit-making success.

Stay tuned for info on The Delgado Brothers' upcoming album.
