If you’re a Joni Mitchell fan, you will become a Kiki Ebsen fan as she faithfully performs a variety of Joni’s songs in a wonderful show... ”

Stephen Bishop ~ Grammy nominated artist

The Joni Mitchell Project celebrates the genius of the Joni Mitchell songbook. Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kiki Ebsen delivers beautiful piano on "Both Sides Now" and "Case of You," and shifts to guitar on "Coyote" and "Chelsea Morning," among others. You'll enjoy her band arrangements of "Woodstock," "Big Yellow Taxi," and "Free Man in Paris," as well as the deeper tracks like "Blonde in the Bleachers," and "Michael From Mountains". Kiki follows Joni through her early years of "Blue" and "Song to a Seagull" then explores her jazzy side with cuts from her "Mingus" record and "Wild Things Run Fast". Kiki and her band pay tribute to Joni Mitchell, her music, style, originality and pure artistry like no other. This event should not be missed!

Featuring Kiki Ebsen - vocals/keys/guitar, Terry Wollman - guitar, Grant Geissman - guitar, Steve Lawrence - bass, and Bernie Dresel - drums

KIKI EBSEN is a dynamic musician and singer-songwriter who has built an exciting career that can find her, any day of the week, headlining a jazz festival, singing with a Symphony Pops orchestra, performing on stage in a show featuring the Great American Songbook, and she can still be found on hundreds of YouTube videos that remind people of the 20 years she spent touring with Grammy-winners and platinum-selling artists such as Boz Scaggs, Christopher Cross, Belinda Carlisle, Tracy Chapman, Al Jarreau, and James Ingram who inspired her to keep on writing her own music. She is, in fact, a respected songwriter whose compositions are included on albums by Boney James, Eric Marienthal, Jessy J, and others. Whether pop, rock, jazz, blues, covers or her own compositions, Kiki Ebsen is happiest in front of a microphone and keyboard, sharing music.

Kiki’s “Scarecrow Sessions,” her 6th CD, honoring her dad, was released in 2014, and includes classic jazz standards, such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Moon River,” “Easy to Love,” and more. In 2015, Kiki was inspired to develop a multimedia show, “To Dad with Love: A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen, honoring the life and career of her famous dad” The show features Kiki and her band of first-call jazz musicians, performing on stage against a stunning video presentation that she and her brother, Dustin Ebsen, an award-winning video editor, created with over 200 images of Hollywood’s best memories.

Her Joni Mitchell Project, includes songs from nine of Joni’s albums, including “Song to a Seagull,” “For the Roses,” and “The Hissing of Summer Lawns.” In addition to these shows, Kiki’s schedule includes Symphony POPS, and solo appearances across the country.

When time permits, you can find Kiki Ebsen back home on her ranch teaching with her herd of rescued horses on her nonprofit organization, The Healing Equine Ranch. www.kikiebsen.com

a world-class songwriter-performer ... with a polished vocal style and songs of substance.”

— — Steve Wagner, American Songwriter Magazine

I could listen to her sound forever.” — Edward Asner

Kiki Ebsen is a consummate performer at the keyboard and as a guest vocalist. With a symphony orchestra, singing pop standards, or the catalog of Ella Fitzgerald to Joni Mitchell, a great artist.”

Live Music at Bogies | Gypsy Jazz Guitarist Robin Nolan and Howard Alden (cover $15)

May 7, 2019

TUESDAY | May 7th, 2019 | 8:00pm | Music Night at Bogies | Gypsy Jazz Guitarist Robin Nolan and Howard Alden (cover $15) **Two drink minimum purchase required with every ticket.**

Internationally acclaimed Gypsy Jazz guitarist, Robin Nolan and the legendary Howard Alden, the guitarist that taught Sean Penn to play gypsy in Woody Allen’s film Sweet and Low Down, will be performing at Bogies, Tuesday, May 7th at 8:00 pm. Nolan is holding his Gypsy Jazz Retreat Workshop (gypsyjazzworldpassport.com) in Westlake Village and the culminating event will be the gig at Bogies featuring a first set with Nolan and the retreat players, and the second set with Nolan, Alden and some surprise guests. Bogies is located at 32001 Agoura Road, Westlake Village, CA 91361 (www.bogies-bar.com). The performance will start at 8:00 pm. Admission will be $15 at the door, first-come first-seated.

Robin Nolan is one of the world’s best known and most admired gypsy jazz guitarists and has been praised for his musical genius and creativity by Willie Nelson, Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, and the late George Harrison. Robin became one of George Harrison’s favorite guitarists and was his ‘secret weapon’ at many a party thrown at his English country estate Friar Park. Legendary in the Django Reinhardt world, Robin has headlined every major gypsy jazz festival across the globe and Nolan’s music is taking gypsy jazz into the 21st Century beyond Django Reinhardt and incorporating influences of The Beatles, Ravi Shankar and AC/DC.

Howard, a native of Long Beach, California, began playing guitar at the age of ten with many influences including the infamous Django Reinhardt. In 1977–78 he studied jazz guitar at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood with Herb Ellis, Joe Pass, and Howard Roberts. He signed with Concord Jazz in 1980 and his association with the master of the seven-string guitar, George Van Eps, allowed Alden to become a master himself. Alden has recorded with many jazz greats including Jimmy Bruno, Herb Ellis, Frank Vignola, Michael Moore, Bill Goodwin, Lew Tabackin, and Renee Rosnes. Steve Miller has featured Alden on recording projects, and Howard has joined him for live appearances. Guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke said of Howard’s recent solo recording on K2B2 records; “It's the best recording of the seven-string guitar I've ever heard!”.

This six-piece band features Leslie Smith and the remarkable Sara Niemietz sharing lead vocal duties, and veteran film composer and studio musician W.G. 'Snuffy' Walden on guitar. The music has a pop jazz feel with bluesy overtones. Niemietz is a revelation, trading lines with Smith’s voice and Walden’s guitar. She is a classy veteran performer who electrifies an audience. Walden’s soaring guitar work demonstrates his virtuosity and reminds us that before he wrote music for Thirtysomething, The Wonder Years, The West Wing and Friday Night Lights, he was an accomplished session guitarist backing artists like Stevie Wonder, the late Donna Summer, and Chaka Khan.
